Wow, I think Sarah Cordts is doing a great job. I have taken my children there to many of the activities and they are upbeat and well done. They invite the kids to dress up as different characters and read them books and sometimes dance along to music. I hope the community will give this library another chance. Sorry to hear about conflict in the past, but change is possible. Let's stay hopeful.
Congratulations, Board of Directors. As you and your ilk embrace mediocrity, American exceptionalism is going down the toilet. As an example of the "share the wealth" ideology, your library director basically told Tyler Weaver that he is greedy for being the best. How would you like that ideology to be applied to sports teams? Should the Green Bay Packers be chastised for "hogging" championships? Should they "step aside" so that other teams can win? Are other teams quitting because they "can't keep up?" If this line of thinking takes over, why would any child aim for excellence?
SHAME of the library board and anyone else who had anything to do with this.!!!
Not my library anymore!!
One of my greatest discoveries as a child was reading. I lived in so many magical places because someone took the time to introduce me to the amazing world of books. What a disgrace that this wonderful librarian was let go because a sad and pathetic board of directors was too blind to recognize this woman's worth. Lucky is the new library that snatches her up.
I think it is horrible that a woman gets fired for encouraging a child to read and recognizing him for his EFFORT. This was one of the few examples of a child accomplishing something he had to WORK for and not just being blessed to have natural skill to perform a sport.
Imagine, firing library personnel because they spoke out about a summer reading contest, defending a boy who won the contest several years in a row. Imagine, turning a competition into a lottery. That's really preparing children for the realities of the world! How many fewer books will be read this coming summer than last? Shameful! Give the women back their jobs! NOW!
